Fatima Zahra Al-Waryaghli, Vice President of the National Association of Media and Publishers, confirmed that the first meeting of the newly elected executive office marks a transformative moment for the association, reflecting the renewed trust that members have in President Idriss Shattan after the positive results achieved by the association in recent years.
Al-Waryaghli highlighted that the appointed executive office includes prominent figures from within the national media landscape, combining the experience of veteran members with the vitality of new faces. She indicated that this step represents a true reflection of the profession’s constituents and affirms the association’s position as a proposing authority.
She stressed that the central goals of the executive office focus on defending freedom of expression, entrenching democratic practice within the media body, and serving the interests of journalists alongside supporting media enterprises. She added that the association remains committed to completing projects that began four or five years ago, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, which showcased the essential role of national journalism during that period.
The Vice President pointed out that the presence of new and well-known figures in the media scene adds significant value to the executive office and reflects the association’s openness to diverse talents, asserting that strengthening the position of journalists and media enterprises remains a top priority.
Al-Waryaghli concluded by emphasizing that her role as Vice President is secondary to her personal and collective commitment to advancing the profession, stating that what matters is the collaborative effort to push national journalism forward.
