Follow-Up

Tangier Med Port has reached a pivotal stage in 2025, becoming one of the top five ports globally in container handling. According to Alphaliner’s latest rankings, this achievement places Tangier Med among the world leaders, thereby enhancing its reputation in Africa and the Mediterranean.

Exceptional Performance

In 2024, Tangier Med handled a record-breaking 10.24 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), marking an 18.8% increase compared to the previous year. This performance is attributed to ongoing investments in port infrastructure, improvements in maritime operations, and reduced maneuvering times.

A Strategic Central Hub

Located at the Strait of Gibraltar, Tangier Med possesses a strategic geographic position that enables it to efficiently serve maritime routes between Europe, Africa, and Asia. This location grants it a central role in international trade and attracts investments and partnerships with major shipping operators.

Future Prospects

With a nominal capacity of 9 million containers, Tangier Med is expected to surpass this threshold in 2024, solidifying its status as the largest port in the Mediterranean. Ongoing projects aim to expand industrial zones to attract more high-value industries.
