Casablanca: The New Cruise Terminal Welcomes Its First Cruise Ship

The new cruise port in Casablanca, recently inaugurated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, welcomed its first cruise ship, the Island Sky, on Friday morning, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the city’s cruise tourism sector.

In a festive atmosphere accompanied by musical performances, around 100 passengers explored this modern facility, equipped with digital and advanced services to ensure smoothness, comfort, and safety.

The ship’s captain, George Robert Hendry, expressed his pride at being the first to dock at this new terminal, stating, “It is a rare honor for the crew and passengers to partake in such a moment. The terminal completely meets the needs of the vessels and provides ideal conditions.”

Passengers on the ship praised the hospitality in Casablanca, with some, like British tourist Robert, expressing excitement at the prospect of rediscovering Morocco after their previous visit to Tétouan. A Scottish couple also commended the smooth services and friendly atmosphere at this inaugural terminal.

This project, which cost 720 million dirhams, aims to enhance Casablanca’s tourism appeal and support the growing activity of the port. The terminal is designed to accommodate up to 450,000 passengers annually and can handle ships up to 350 meters long, 45 meters wide, with a draft of up to 9 meters.
