Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amin Al-Tahrawi, conducted a field visit to the Hassan II Regional Hospital in Agadir on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, as part of the ministry’s commitment to enhancing the quality of healthcare services in the Souss-Massa region.

During the visit, the minister reviewed the work of the central support committee, which has been diagnosing challenges and proposing urgent solutions for the past week. The committee’s interventions included the provision of medications and medical supplies, equipping the laboratory with necessary equipment, repairing biomedical devices, particularly in the radiology department, and receiving a new scanner that will be operational soon, thereby improving service quality and reducing appointment wait times.

These efforts are part of a 200 million dirham investment program aimed at improving and equipping the hospital, alongside the completion of the new university hospital, which is nearing its final stages.

The minister also made significant administrative decisions, which included relieving the previous hospital director, the regional delegate, and the regional director from their positions, and appointing an interim regional director to oversee the corrective phase and ensure efficient management continuity.

Regarding the recently reported fatalities, the minister confirmed that the General Inspectorate is conducting a comprehensive investigation to determine accountability, with investigation reports to be submitted to the appropriate judicial authorities once completed, in adherence to transparency and accountability principles.
