A city in Morocco is preparing to host the inaugural Ironman 70.3 race on Sunday, October 26, 2025, featuring athletes from over 40 countries alongside Moroccan champions.

Organized under the auspices of the Agadir Souss Massa region, this sporting event aims to showcase Morocco as a premier sports and tourism destination, particularly as the country gears up to host the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup. It will also serve as an opportunity to highlight the city’s rich tourism and economic potential.

The competition will consist of three segments: a 1.9-kilometer swim, a 90-kilometer cycling race, and a half marathon covering 21 kilometers, taking participants along the Atlantic beaches and the foothills of the Atlas Mountains.

In addition to the main race, activities will be held on Saturday, October 25, including the “Iron Kids” race for children aged 7 to 14, and the “The Fun Run” for women to support breast cancer patients under the slogan “Add Meaning to Your Steps.” A “Ironman Village” will be set up along the city’s Corniche to welcome participants and visitors.

Organizers have stated that Agadir was chosen for its moderate climate and appealing tourism infrastructure, making it an ideal stop for international athletes and their families, as well as a chance to attract a new segment of high-spending tourists.

Winners of this race will secure spots for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship finals scheduled to take place in Nice, France, in September 2026.
