A petition has been submitted to the governor of Casablanca-Settat, Mohamed Amhidia, signed by 300 residents from the Benjdia Mars Sultan neighborhood, requesting the use of a space belonging to the community for sports purposes. The petition advocates for this space to be allocated to youth associations active in community work, supporting sports and youth engagement.
Some signatories told “Express TV” that they urged the city governor to reconsider the regulations for utilizing a space located on Rahal El-Maskini Street, which has recently been granted for use by taxi operators. They emphasized that their request is supported by architectural plans prepared by local expert engineers to construct a sports field adjacent to the new taxi station, aimed at addressing the shortage of sports facilities in their area.
Residents asserted that the sports facility would provide local youth, belonging to two community associations, the opportunity to practice their favorite sports in a safe environment, eliminating the need to travel long distances that could pose risks, and highlighting that the neighborhood has produced several athletes, including the national team goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.
The governor of Casablanca-Settat had previously promised to resolve this issue, expressing his understanding of the challenges faced by the neighborhood’s youth, which residents describe as the economic heart of the city but lacking in sports facilities compared to other districts of the capital.
