Before the kickoff of “CAN 2025,” CAF confirms that Morocco’s edition will break records
As the countdown begins for Africa’s largest football event, Morocco is positioning itself for the final preparations to host the Africa Cup of Nations 2025. The kingdom is gearing up fully after successfully hosting the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, reflecting its capability to manage major tournaments and strengthening its status as a leading sports destination.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) highlighted Morocco’s readiness in a special report, stating that the kingdom is on track to surpass the viewership numbers from the 2023 Ivory Coast edition, which garnered over 1.5 billion TV views and 2.4 billion digital views worldwide.
The anticipated tournament will kick off from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, featuring 24 teams competing across nine stadiums in six Moroccan cities: Rabat, Casablanca, Fez, Tangier, Marrakech, and Agadir. CAF also unveiled the official poster for the tournament, signaling the official start of the countdown.
Renovations at the stadiums have reached their final stages, with work completed at Prince Moulay Abdellah Complex, the Olympic Stadium, Marrakech Stadium, and the Grand Stadium of Fez. Meanwhile, the stadiums in Agadir, Tangier, and Moulay Hassan are set to open their doors in the coming days, ready to welcome fans and competitions.
These preparations affirm Morocco’s commitment to delivering an exceptional tournament that reflects its organizational expertise and experience in managing major continental events, while also paving the way for hosting the 2030 World Cup in partnership with Spain and Portugal, establishing the kingdom as a global sports destination.
