White “Marsas” Trucks Create Chaos Again
Youssef Saïssi Hossni
The trucks loaded with goods leaving the Port of Casablanca to head towards the highway and various cities for distributing their wares have once again violated the law in the Ain Sebaâ coastal area, where a designated bus lane has been constructed to avoid congestion and accidents that these trucks cause when they enter the urban area of the economic capital.
Some trucks are attempting to take shortcuts to quickly reach the highway, passing through the streets of Ain Sebaâ, which leads to traffic congestion and accidents, as occurred last weekend. If it weren’t for divine intervention, it could have resulted in casualties due to a severe collision between a truck and a car registered in France.
Residents in the area are calling for police intervention to warn truck owners who breach the law with heavy fines, especially since the majority follow the designated routes. However, some drivers are keen on speeding through shortcuts at the expense of citizens and their vehicles, in addition to the panic these trucks cause, whether it’s from their weight or when in proximity to them.
