“Al-Moukar” Ait Taleb Ibrahim… A Season that Brings Together Memory and People in the Heart of Souss
In the heart of the Souss region, where solidarity values intersect with rich cultural heritage, the Ait Taleb Ibrahim Festival has become an annual event eagerly awaited by everyone. This celebration not only carries social, cultural, and spiritual dimensions but has transformed from a festive manifestation into a space for generational encounters and a connection among the village’s inhabitants, serving as a forum for discussing local issues in an atmosphere of warmth and cooperation. It has become one of the most successful local gatherings in the region.
The current edition, organized by the Ait Taleb Ibrahim Association for Development and Cooperation in partnership with the Ait Wafqa Commune and several supporters, featured a rich program that preserved the essence of the festival as a gathering space combining religion, culture, and traditional arts. From the first day, activities kicked off with a Quranic memorization competition held in the village mosque, overseen by Imams Abdullah Idras and Said El-Wakili, attended by a large audience in a unique spiritual atmosphere. In the same space, a scientific seminar titled “Family and Good Living” was organized, led by the local scientific council of Tiznit, where professors and religious guides presented interventions on the role of the family in building a cohesive society, followed by a moment of honoring Professor Abdullah Idras and guides Fatih Abliq and Mariam Immars in appreciation of their efforts in serving the community.
The festival was not limited to the religious aspect; it also incorporated a special artistic touch, as local Ahwash groups entertained the audience with performances combining rhythms of the drum and group dance, recalling the authenticity of Amazigh heritage and the spirit of communal celebration. One of the evenings also included honoring political figures and elected representatives who have contributed to supporting regional projects, including Abdullah Al-Ghazi, Mohamed Sheikh Bla, Ibrahim Al-Alawi, and Mahfoud Al-Abbasi, amid significant interaction from the attendees.
Children also enjoyed their share of joy through entertainment shows and magic games presented by the “Sroma” troupe, adding a warm family atmosphere to the festival. As the activities continued, the festival space transformed into an open gathering for village residents and their guests, combining the pleasure of meeting with the warmth of human relationships.
The organizers noted that the success of this edition reflects the community’s awareness of the importance of preserving and enhancing this heritage, emphasizing that “Al-Moukar Ait Taleb Ibrahim” has become more than just an annual celebration—it is a platform to reinforce Amazigh identity, promote solidarity, and highlight the village’s status on the map of successful gatherings in Souss.
