The Ministry of Interior launches consultations on new developmental programs and warns against their electoral use
Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit has issued urgent instructions to governors and delegates to begin extensive consultations with various local stakeholders, as part of implementing the royal directives outlined in the recent Throne Day speech.
These consultations aim to prepare a new generation of integrated territorial development programs that emphasize the involvement of elected officials, decentralized administrations, public institutions, economic actors, and universities, to formulate projects that have a tangible impact on citizens.
The Minister’s correspondence emphasized that the anticipated programs should focus on enhancing job opportunities in line with the specificities of each region, improving essential social services, particularly in education and health, in addition to sustainable management of water resources.
In light of the upcoming legislative elections scheduled for 2026, Laftit stressed the necessity of adhering to the royal directives and the new development model, warning against any attempts to exploit these programs for narrow electoral purposes.
He also clarified that these initiatives should rely on an updated field diagnosis of development levels and local needs, prioritizing rural areas that continue to suffer from poverty and a lack of basic infrastructure.
