The Fez Municipal Council approves a comprehensive development plan to enhance urban and social infrastructure.
In a special session held yesterday, Monday, the Fez Municipal Council approved a series of agreements and projects aimed at promoting socio-economic development and improving the urban framework of the city.
Among the key decisions ratified is the adoption of the development plan for the Agdal extension, which was prepared through a participatory approach involving elected officials, local authorities, and technical services. The goal is to regulate urban expansion, stimulate investment, and enhance quality of life. The council president, Abdel Salam Boucali, stated that this plan is a critical step towards modernizing the urban fabric and will soon be published in the official bulletin after being referred to the relevant committees.
The council also approved the acquisition of the “Azdahar 29” property, located between Fez, Ras el Ma, and Sidi Harazem, to establish a reception and maintenance center for urban transit buses as part of enhancing public transport infrastructure and improving service quality.
The decisions also included the reprogramming of allocations for the second phase of the 2025 budget benefiting the “Fez Development” company, to ensure the implementation of major projects within the municipality.
In the context of improving municipal performance, the council ratified a technical support protocol aimed at major cities within the framework of a program to enhance municipal performance, focusing on strengthening governance in budget management, mobilizing resources, and improving the relationship between the municipality and citizens.
Additionally, a partnership agreement was signed with the local council of scholars to organize religious, cultural, and scientific events, along with an agreement with the regional youth department to complete the childhood educational complex project in the Zouagha neighborhood, which is included in the state-region program contract.
To strengthen civil society, the council agreed to distribute support grants to local sports and social associations.
On another note, the council ratified an amendment to the employment support agreement in the “Fez Shore” industrial zone to increase its attractiveness and support investors in collaboration with the regional investment center.
The session concluded with the approval of a partnership agreement with the General Directorate of Local Authorities aimed at supporting training and enhancing capacities, especially concerning the organization of professional competitions for municipal employees.
