Skitiwi: The Match between Morocco and the Democratic Republic of Congo is an “Early Final” in the CHAN

Hours before the decisive clash against the Democratic Republic of Congo, national coach Tarik Skitiwi emphasized the difficulty and significance of the match, describing it as an “early final” in the group stage of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

During a press conference on Saturday, August 16, 2025, Skitiwi stated that winning tomorrow would be the key to qualification, adding that the team is fully aware of the stakes and that the players are determined to deliver their best performance.

He explained that the Congolese side relies on speed in counterattacks and that Morocco will adjust its playing style accordingly, insisting that tournaments of this nature do not recognize names but rather physical and mental readiness and performance on the field.

He added, “Every match has its own scenario, and we must focus on the small details that make a difference,” noting that the Democratic Republic of Congo has won the CHAN twice, which necessitates that Morocco plays organized football and controls the game’s flow.

For his part, Moroccan player Mohamed Mefid confirmed that the team is mentally and physically prepared, stating that everyone treats the match like a final, with victory being the primary goal to surpass the group stage.

The match will take place on Sunday at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, a game that Moroccan fans look forward to with excitement, as it will determine their fate in advancing to the next round of the tournament.
