The opening match of the Premier League 2025-2026 season between Liverpool and Bournemouth faced a temporary halt in the 30th minute following a report from Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo about alleged racial abuse from certain fans.

Referee Anthony Taylor stopped the match immediately after receiving the report and consulted with the team captains and coaches before officially documenting the incident according to established procedures. The game resumed a few minutes later.
