Morocco and Sudan Discuss Addressing Sudanese Residents’ Issues and Enhancing Judicial Cooperation
Morocco and Sudan continue to strengthen their cooperation in the judicial field, undertaking joint efforts to resolve outstanding issues concerning Sudanese citizens residing in the Kingdom.
In this context, Sudan’s Minister of Justice, Abdullah Deraf, received the Moroccan Ambassador to Sudan, Mohamed Maâl Ainine, Dean of the diplomatic corps, at his office in Khartoum. The minister reiterated his congratulations to the Moroccan people on the occasion of the Throne Day before discussions commenced on the judicial cooperation plan for 2025 and 2026, within the framework of implementing the partnership agreement signed between the two countries’ ministries of justice in 2007.
The meeting addressed in detail the situation of Sudanese nationals living illegally in Morocco, as well as the issue of Sudanese prisoners within Moroccan detention facilities. Both sides discussed ways to facilitate their return and implement the resolutions from previous meetings to ensure these issues are resolved definitively.
The Sudanese Minister of Justice emphasized his country’s commitment to coordinating with Moroccan authorities to expedite the resolution of these matters, praising the constructive cooperation between Rabat and Khartoum. For his part, the Moroccan ambassador appreciated the Sudanese Ministry of Justice’s dedication to supporting bilateral relations and developing judicial partnership in a manner that serves shared interests.
