Mohammedia Commemorates Ahmed Faris by Naming a Street After Him
The municipal council of the city of Mohammedia has decided to name one of its streets after the late Ahmed Faris, a native of the city and former star of Chabab Mohammedia and the national team during the 1970s.
Faris was the first Moroccan player to win the African Ballon d’Or, which solidified his name in the history of Moroccan football both locally and continentally.
Shortly after his passing a few weeks ago, several local associations urged for his recognition, prompting the municipal council to take this symbolic step to honor his athletic legacy and highlight his role in elevating the name of both the city and Morocco.
The official announcement of the new street name is expected to be made in the coming days, following the completion of the necessary formal procedures.
