Al-Qunaitra: Emergency police arrest a minor who threatened with a fake explosion to rob a commercial store

The mobile emergency police unit in Al-Qunaitra managed to apprehend a 17-year-old minor around noon on Wednesday, August 20, on suspicion of attempting to steal from a commercial store by threatening with a fake explosive device.

According to initial investigation information, the suspect attempted to commit theft from a shop by making false statements claiming he had an explosive package, before attempting to flee. An emergency police patrol was able to detain him near the crime scene.

Technical scans at the site, along with search operations using police-trained dogs, revealed that the suspect was making false threats and was in possession of a plastic package containing a quantity of table salt, connected to electrical wires, which contained no explosive materials or devices for detonation.

The investigation also revealed that the suspect is a minor without a regular or permanent residence in Al-Qunaitra.

The detained minor has been placed under police supervision pending further judicial investigations ordered by the competent public prosecutor, aimed at uncovering all the circumstances, conditions, and motivations behind these criminal acts.
