The Judicial Police Department in Tangier initiated a judicial investigation on the evening of Wednesday, August 13, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, following the thwarting of an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of cocaine through the Tangier-Mediterranean port.

An official source reported that the security operation conducted within the port resulted in the seizure of 47 slabs of cocaine, with a total weight of 52 kilograms and 296 grams, which were carefully concealed inside the refrigeration system of a shipping container that arrived on a foreign vessel from Brazil.

Initial investigations and technical examinations conducted at the scene confirmed that the seized shipment was cocaine, and samples were sent to the national police scientific laboratory for accurate analysis to determine the concentration of the narcotic substance.

This operation is part of the efforts to combat cross-border criminal activities that exploit the country’s ports as transit points for drug trafficking from Latin America to Europe.
