The End of Heat Waves: Expectations for a Fresher Breeze in Morocco
Following several days of extreme heat, temperatures in Morocco began to decline on Tuesday, August 19, marking the onset of the end of the hot summer period known as “Samim.”
An air current coming from the west is helping to lessen the severity of the heat, particularly in the northern and central regions, thereby concluding a series of heat waves that have characterized this month.
However, temperatures will remain relatively high in the southern and southeastern areas before gradually decreasing by the end of the week.
Forecasts also indicate moderate to hot weather in the eastern and southeastern parts of the country, with the possibility of local thunderstorms in the Atlas Mountains and some remote southern regions.
These meteorological shifts are expected to provide some relief to residents after days of extreme heat, signaling a gradual transition towards a more moderate and comfortable summer.
