The Moroccan women’s national tennis team has made significant strides in its sporting journey, qualifying for Group II (Europe-Africa) during the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers held in Windhoek, Namibia, from August 4 to 9.
According to a statement from the Royal Moroccan Tennis Federation, this achievement reflects Morocco’s strong return to the continental stage and showcases the hard work of players Yasmin Kabbaj, Malak Alami, Diaa Eljardi, and Manal Naciri, who excelled with disciplined performances and high effectiveness.
During the group stage, the lionesses demonstrated clear dominance, winning by the same score (3-0) against Namibia, Burundi, and Madagascar. In the decisive match against Madagascar, Malak Alami secured victory over Yariniaina Tsentaniyoni (6-2, 6-3), before Yasmin Kabbaj powered through, earning a ticket to the next stage by defeating Muitisoa Rasendra Andriananteniina (6-1, 6-2).
In the final stage, the Moroccan team continued its strong performances, overcoming Botswana with three wins to zero, and clinching a match against Kenya with a score of 2-1, thus guaranteeing its place among the teams in Group II (Europe-Africa) rightfully.
The federation emphasized that this qualification is a pivotal milestone, providing the national team with opportunities to engage in new experiences against high-caliber opponents in 2026, asserting that the achieved results demonstrate Morocco’s readiness to compete with the continent’s strongest teams and enhance its presence on the international tennis stage.
