A Spanish newspaper, “El Economista,” has recognized Morocco’s solidified position as a prominent player in the global automotive industry, noting that it will double its production capacity over the next decade to reach one million cars by 2025.

According to the same source, this number places the kingdom among the top 15 car manufacturers worldwide and makes it the leading producer in Africa, without competition.

The newspaper attributes this development to a comprehensive strategy that includes significant investments and infrastructure upgrades, notably the Tangier-Med Port and structural projects like the Nador West Med Port.

“El Economista” emphasized that the establishment of major global groups such as Renault and Stellantis has enabled Morocco to integrate robustly into global value chains, producing at levels comparable to established European countries in the automotive sector.

It highlighted Morocco’s proximity to Europe, the availability of a competitive workforce, and tax incentives as factors that make the kingdom an attractive destination for investors, an evolution closely monitored by Spain as both a challenge and an opportunity to enhance industrial cooperation.

The newspaper concluded that this trajectory reflects Morocco’s vision, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, to make the automotive sector a catalyst for economic development and a cornerstone for integration into the global economy.
