Hakim Ziyech Rejects Brazilian Botafogo Offer, Prefers Return to Arab Leagues

Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech has engaged in discussions with Brazilian club Botafogo in recent weeks, but the player has expressed his desire to pursue a new experience within Arab leagues, leading to a halt in negotiations between the two parties.

Brazilian journalist Medeiros revealed that the Brazilian club aimed to strengthen its squad with high-caliber players, seeing Ziyech as a suitable option; however, the latter’s preference for Arab offers changed the trajectory of the deal.

As a result, Botafogo’s management was forced to adjust its transfer strategy, initiating contacts with other players to compensate for the failure to reach an agreement with the Moroccan star, including striker Gonzalo and player Henestrosa, along with other names listed for potential recruitment by the Brazilian club.

Ziyech departed Qatari club Al-Duhail last May after a brief six-month stint, having joined the team from Turkish club Galatasaray, in a professional journey that has seen him move between several European and Arab clubs.
