A 60 Million Dirham Underground Garage Enhancing Traffic Flow in Tangier
Tangier is preparing to inaugurate a new underground urban garage next to the historic Cervantes Theatre, as part of efforts to enhance infrastructure for parking and mitigate congestion in one of the busiest areas of the northern capital.
This project is expected to significantly facilitate urban mobility, especially during peak hours and tourism seasons when the city sees increased foot traffic.
The total cost of the project exceeds 60 million dirhams and is part of a program to upgrade the surroundings of Tangier’s old medina. The garage includes 202 parking spaces distributed across three underground levels and is open to the public 24/7.
Equipped with the latest internationally recognized safety and accessibility standards, the garage has taken particular care to meet the needs of individuals with limited mobility, featuring four elevators and internal corridors connecting different floors and adjacent spaces.
The facility also boasts an advanced security system, including fifth-generation surveillance cameras and an early fire detection system, enhancing user safety. Additionally, the garage connects to nearby green areas and commercial facilities, making it a functional and practical addition to the urban transport system in Tangier.
