Travel revenues in Morocco exceed 45 billion dirhams, showing improvement in the tourism balance

Travel revenues in Morocco reached more than 45.1 billion dirhams during the first five months of 2025, according to the latest report from the Foreign Exchange Office regarding monthly external trade indicators.

This figure reflects an 8.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024, marking a rise of nearly 3.5 billion dirhams.

The same source reported that travel expenses also rose annually by 7.3%, reaching about 13.3 billion dirhams. As a result, the travel balance stood at 31.8 billion dirhams at the end of May, showing a notable improvement of 9% compared to the same period last year.

Additionally, the Foreign Exchange Office indicated that remittances from Moroccans living abroad totaled approximately 45.6 billion dirhams by the end of May, down from 46.9 billion dirhams during the same period in 2024, representing a slight decline of 2.8%.

These figures reflect the dynamism of the tourism sector during the first half of the year, with expectations of continued improvement as the holiday season approaches and tourism demand rises.
