Severe thunderstorms and a heatwave are set to impact several regions across the kingdom starting Tuesday and extending through Friday.

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning predicting weather disturbances that will include locally strong thunderstorms accompanied by hail and gusty winds, along with a heatwave with temperatures ranging between 40 and 47 degrees Celsius, starting today and lasting until Friday in various parts of the country.

The directorate, in an orange-level alert bulletin, indicated that strong thunderstorms—expected to deliver between 15 and 30 mm of rain—will affect the regions of Assa-Zag, Smara, Guelmim, and Tan-Tan today from 2 PM to 10 PM.

Additionally, a severe heatwave will sweep through several areas of the kingdom from Tuesday to Friday, with temperatures anticipated to reach between 44 and 47 degrees in the provinces of Errachidia, Zagora, Taroudant, Tata, Assa-Zag, Smara, Oued Eddahab, and Oussard.

Temperatures are also expected to range from 40 to 44 degrees from Tuesday to Thursday in several other provinces, including Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknes, Khouribga, Fez, Moulay Yakoub, Taounate, Taza, Wazzan, Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane, Inzegane-Ait Melloul, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Benslimane, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, Kelaa Sraghna, Essaouira, Marrakech, Rehamna, Khemisset, Sidi Bennour, and Youssoufia.

Authorities are urging caution, particularly for vulnerable groups, and are recommending necessary precautions to avoid the effects of the heatwave, especially during peak hours of the day.
