The artistic event held at the National School of Commerce and Management at Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra, celebrating the graduation of a new class of students, sparked widespread controversy due to the performances included, particularly a popular musical segment by artist Abdallah Daoudi alongside a troupe of female performers.
The administration of Ibn Tofail University denied any involvement in organizing the event or scheduling its segments, affirming that the students were solely responsible for planning the ceremony and selecting its guests. They clarified that their role was limited to providing the university space without interference in the details of the student-organized parallel activities, thus bearing no organizational responsibility for the events that took place.
Conversely, the Student Association of the National School of Commerce and Management in Kenitra issued a clarifying statement to the public, asserting that it was the organizer of the event, which was conducted in an atmosphere filled with pride, respect, and responsibility, and attended by families and faculty members. The association noted that it operates within frameworks that respect the general ethics of the educational institution and society.
The event, whose images and clips circulated on social media, divided opinions between critics who deemed its segments inappropriate for an academic institution and defenders of the students’ right to celebrate their graduation in the manner they choose, as long as it was done within a context of respect and commitment.
