The Logistics Area of Ouled Saleh Launches to Enhance Competitiveness and Organize Distribution Flows
Transport and Logistics Minister Abdel Samad Qiyouh affirmed that the development of structured logistics zones is a key lever for rationalizing supply chains and reducing costs for economic actors, which helps control consumer prices.
The minister explained during the inauguration ceremony of the Ouled Saleh logistics zone in Naciri that this project is part of the national strategy to enhance logistics competitiveness, aiming to enable companies to improve their operations, accelerate distribution, and reduce transportation and storage costs.
Qiyouh noted that the area will be established over an area of 70 hectares and represents the first step in a program aimed at mobilizing 750 hectares of logistics properties by 2028, particularly in the Casablanca-Settat region, which sees a high concentration of national demand. He added that this project, developed in partnership between the public and private sectors, will contribute to positioning Morocco as a regional logistics hub and a model for the integration of land planning and sustainable development.
Ghassan Al-Mashrefi, the director general of the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Logistics Activities, revealed that the project represents a public investment of 550 million dirhams and will allow for the construction of 25 logistics platforms that meet the best international standards. It is expected to mobilize around 2 billion dirhams in private investments and create 1,500 jobs. He explained that this project will soon be complemented by half a million square meters of logistics properties in Zenata to meet the rising demand in Greater Casablanca.
Abdel Latif Mazouz, head of the Casablanca-Settat region council, highlighted that the project is part of the celebrations for the Throne Day and the implementation of the regional development program aimed at stimulating economic growth and providing sustainable job opportunities. He mentioned that the region has allocated 70 hectares for this strategic project due to its proximity to urban areas, highways, and several industrial and residential zones, giving it great potential to become a local employment hub and an attractive area for investment.
Mazouz announced the launch of a new logistics area north of Zenata before the end of the year, in addition to other expansion projects aimed at enhancing the industrial property supply. He emphasized the importance of the integrated regional program in achieving a balance between economic development, land planning, and spatial justice.
The inauguration ceremony for the project was attended by the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, Mohammad Amhaydia, the governor of the Nouacer province, Jalal Bin Hayoun, and several industry professionals. This project is the first logistics platform to provide large plots of land reaching 6 hectares for economic actors, making it an alternative for organizing logistics facilities outside urban settings and contributing to improving the structure of national distribution flows and enhancing competitiveness and sustainable development in the region.
