Moroccan Passport Achieves Best Global Ranking Since 2006

The Moroccan passport has made a notable leap in the annual ranking released by Henley & Partners, which specializes in measuring the strength of passports worldwide. It has risen to the 67th position globally, allowing holders to enter 73 countries without a prior visa. This achievement marks the best performance of the Moroccan passport since 2006, advancing three places compared to the previous ranking.

This improvement results from a series of diplomatic enhancements and international initiatives that Morocco has engaged in over recent years, strengthening its regional and international standing. The Moroccan passport tops the list of North African passports, outperforming the Tunisian passport, which ranks 72nd, the Algerian passport at 92nd, and the Mauritanian passport at 79th, while Egypt and Libya are positioned at 85th and 95th, respectively.

The ranking results also reflect a clear disparity in passport strength within the Arab world, with Gulf countries maintaining dominance in the upper tiers. The Emirati passport ranks 8th globally, enabling entry to 184 countries without a visa, followed by the Qatari passport at 47th, the Kuwaiti at 50th, and the Saudi and Bahraini passports at 55th and 56th, respectively.

The Singaporean passport leads the world rankings, followed by the Japanese and South Korean passports. France, Germany, and Spain share the 3rd position globally, while Afghanistan sits at the bottom of the global ranking in 99th place, followed by Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, and Pakistan, which have passports that allow entry to very few countries.

The progress made in the ranking of the Moroccan passport is seen as a positive indicator of the country’s improved international image and the success of its foreign policy in expanding travel options for its citizens. This achievement is expected to enhance Morocco’s tourism and economic appeal, reinforcing its position as a key player on the international stage.
