At least four people were killed and over 30 others were injured overnight on Monday in a new series of Russian strikes targeting several areas in Ukraine, according to Ukrainian authorities announced this morning.
These strikes followed phone calls made by former US President Donald Trump with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, discussing a proposal for a ceasefire, according to official sources.
Andriy Yermak, chief of staff to the Ukrainian president, stated in a post on Telegram that “one of the essential principles of defense is to destroy the enemy’s ability to produce weapons,” emphasizing the need to “weaken the Russian military-industrial complex through multiple means, including sanctions and direct strikes.”
Yermak added that Russia’s increase in arms production “is used not only against Ukraine,” without providing further details.
