The Chairperson of the African Union Commission praises Morocco’s economic diplomacy and its role as a driver of growth in Africa.
Mahamoud Ali Yusuf, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, commended Morocco’s growing role on the continent, emphasizing that the Kingdom has become an economic hub thanks to its active investment diplomacy.
In a speech delivered on his behalf during a reception organized by the Moroccan Embassy in Addis Ababa and the permanent mission to the African Union and the Economic Commission for Africa on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, to mark Throne Day, Ali Yusuf stated that Morocco has chosen a different path in its African relations, focused on investing in vital sectors such as infrastructure, telecommunications, agriculture, finance, and energy.
He added that Moroccan companies have made a significant presence in several member states, reflecting economic dynamism that strengthens the Kingdom’s position and opens promising horizons for the entire African continent.
He also considered that the royal leadership has contributed to solidifying Morocco’s status as an influential geopolitical, economic, and cultural actor, making it a preferred destination for investments and tourism.
The African official concluded by praising Morocco’s contribution to supporting the work of African Union institutions, describing it as a “multifaceted contribution” that facilitates collaborative efforts within the continent.
