The Administration of the Local Prison in Safi Denies Manipulations in the Water Tank Construction Deal and Resorts to Legal Action

The administration of the local prison in Safi has refuted claims circulating on some social media pages regarding “manipulations in the water tank construction deal” at the facility, affirming its commitment to legal and technical transparency in the project’s execution.

In a clarifying statement issued on July 14, 2025, the administration confirmed that the new water tank was constructed as a precautionary measure to address regular water interruptions in the city and that it is still in the testing phase, not yet officially handed over by the contracted company. They emphasized that the construction process adhered strictly to the established legal and technical standards, without any recorded deviations or violations.

The statement clarified that a water leak was noted during the first test due to a malfunction in the float mechanism, and the contracted company was notified to rectify the issue. Additionally, during the interruptions, the facility was provided with tankers to ensure the continuous supply of water to the inmates.

Regarding claims of “inmate suffering due to repeated water interruptions,” the prison administration underscored its commitment to providing all daily necessities for the inmates, including drinking and shower water. They mentioned ongoing efforts to manage overcrowding, despite it not being within their direct jurisdiction.

In response to what they described as the “seriousness of false accusations” regarding manipulation in the public contract, the prison administration announced its intention to seek legal action by filing a complaint with the competent public prosecutor against those propagating these claims.

This statement comes as part of the administration’s efforts to clarify the facts to public opinion and combat all false news that harms the reputation of public institutions.
