Tangier Implements New Parking Management System Beginning Mid-July

Tangier will begin implementing a new parking management system across urban areas starting mid-July. The initiative aims to rationalize the use of public spaces, modernize services, and improve traffic flow within the city.

This initiative is led by the local development company “Tangier Parking,” which will oversee the establishment of clear parking regulations, the adoption of digital payment methods, and enhanced monitoring in targeted areas. In the initial phase, the system will cover several vital neighborhoods in the city center, with plans for gradual expansion to the rest of the urban area.

The new system includes the installation of smart payment devices, the launch of a dedicated mobile application for managing payments and monitoring, as well as offering special subscriptions for local residents. A private company chosen through a public tender will be responsible for training the team executing the project, ensuring high-quality services and transparency.

Local authorities believe this project will reduce illegal parking, aid traffic flow, and improve the utilization of public spaces amid the rapid urban expansion the city is experiencing.

This system is part of a broader vision for Tangier regarding sustainable urban mobility, alongside other projects aimed at enhancing public transport, expanding bike lanes, and improving road infrastructure.

Authorities have confirmed that mechanisms will be activated to monitor and address citizen complaints and mediate disputes in order to prevent violations and ensure high-quality services.

Through this project, Tangier aims to establish a new culture surrounding parking that emphasizes efficiency, fairness, and alignment with developments in smart cities.
