Tangier-Assilah Strengthens Its Tourist Standing with Significant Rise in Overnight Stays
The classified tourist accommodation facilities in the Tangier-Assilah region recorded a remarkable growth of 27 percent in the number of overnight stays from January 1 to the end of April 2025, compared to the same period last year.
During this period, the total number of overnight stays reached 458,302, as opposed to 360,406 nights in the same timeframe of 2024, according to a report from the National Tourism Observatory.
The Tangier-Assilah destination maintained a stable hotel occupancy rate at around 35 percent of its capacity, reflecting the continued tourist interest in the area despite the expansion in hotel offerings.
Tangier-Assilah ranked fourth among the most important tourist destinations in Morocco, following Marrakech, which topped the list with 3.3 million overnight stays, Agadir with 2.03 million, and Casablanca with 775,000 nights, while Fes took the fifth position with 351,000 overnight stays.
In April alone, the tourist destination saw strong growth nearing 41 percent in the number of overnight stays, accounting for 162,937 nights with an occupancy rate of 46 percent, compared to 115,297 nights and an occupancy rate of 42 percent in April of last year.
On a national level, the number of overnight stays in classified tourist accommodation facilities from January to April 2025 reached approximately 5.67 million nights, marking a 23 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, which recorded 4.60 million nights. This reflects the ongoing recovery of the tourism sector in Morocco.
