A source from the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA) reported to “Express TV” about the recording of four cases of the Blue Tongue virus in Kenitra, prompting a comprehensive vaccination campaign for livestock.
In recent hours, local authorities and veterinary services in the Kenitra region have mobilized following the identification of four infections among cattle within a barn located in one of the rural areas of the province.
A responsible source within the National Office for Food Safety disclosed to “Express TV” that the confirmed cases were detected during health inspections, emphasizing that the office immediately intervened in coordination with local authorities.
According to the same source, veterinary teams initiated a widespread vaccination process for all livestock within the affected barn, and the vaccination was also extended as a precautionary measure to all surrounding farms to contain the virus and prevent its spread.
The source affirmed that the situation has been well contained and does not warrant concern, stressing that the virus does not transmit to humans, and the swift and precautionary response to the cases has contributed to mitigating the risk.
