The Ministry of National Education has announced the launch of a national initiative to reintegrate students who have been expelled or dropped out of school, as part of the implementation of the 2022-2026 roadmap aimed at enhancing equity, equal opportunities, and combating school dropouts.
This initiative follows a ministerial memo circulated to regional directorates, calling for the preparation of appropriate conditions to welcome students who have left school, whether due to expulsion or voluntary withdrawal. One regional directorate quickly sent an official letter to middle and high school principals and educational guidance staff, urging them to engage in this process.
According to the document reviewed by the site, the initiative will officially kick off in September, allowing educational institutions to extend the file review period as needed. Class councils will convene to consider applications from students wishing to return, ensuring that those who meet educational and social criteria can resume their studies.
The correspondence emphasized the need for flexibility in handling return requests, taking into account the health, psychological, and social situations of each student individually. It also underscored the importance of adhering to the maximum age requirement for return, which varies by educational level, although the letter did not specify these age limits.
The Ministry of Education is counting on this step to mitigate the phenomenon of early school dropout and provide second chances for thousands of students who have left their studies under various circumstances.
