Saadi Emphasizes the Role of “Dar Es-Sanaa” in Advancing Traditional Crafts in Morocco

Lahcen Saadi, the Secretary of State for Traditional Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, called for coordinated efforts and unified visions to ensure the sustainability of achievements and their expansion, particularly among artisans in rural areas. This statement was made during a meeting of the Board of Directors of the “Dar Es-Sanaa” Institution, attended by representatives from various ministries and institutional partners.

In his speech, Saadi highlighted the strategic importance of the “Dar Es-Sanaa” Institution as a key actor in implementing the government’s vision to promote traditional crafts, pointing to its role in developing marketing mechanisms, enhancing the value of Morocco’s cultural and artisanal heritage, and fostering openness to national and international partnerships.

The government official explained that the institution has three main missions: generating strategic information through studies, reports, and field tools; supporting professional actors through capacity-building programs in management, technical skills, and marketing; and smart promotion of traditional products through marketing campaigns targeting both national and international markets.

During the meeting, the Board approved the launch of the second version of the national support program, focusing on assisting outstanding artisans, especially in the carpet and pottery sectors, as well as exporting and aggregation units, as part of a plan extending from 2025 to 2027. This program adopts a personalized approach and advanced technical design that includes training, branding, marketing, and digital transformation.

A new procedural guide was also adopted as part of the institution’s reform, aiming to enhance principles of good governance, efficiency, and transparency in its management, in line with the requirements for modernizing and continually qualifying the traditional crafts sector, which is a cornerstone of Moroccan identity and a source of the kingdom’s radiance in international forums.
