Rabat is preparing to host the third edition of the “Nostalgia – Emotion of Yesterday” performance at the archaeological site of Chellah, taking place from July 9 to 13, 2025. This event follows the significant success of previous editions and is set against the enchanting backdrop of Chellah.

Organized by the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication in partnership with the Moroccan World Studios in Ouarzazate, the event aims to revitalize historical sites and transform them into vibrant spaces for artistic performances and cultural interaction.

“Nostalgia” will be presented daily in three sessions starting at 9 PM, offering the audience in Rabat and its visitors an immersive experience that transports them to pivotal moments in Moroccan history. The performance combines entertainment, information, and documentation at one of the kingdom’s most ancient archaeological landmarks.

Directed by theater director and professor Amin Nasour, the show revives the memory of Chellah through rich theatrical scenes that narrate the stories of the civilizations that passed through the site, from the Phoenicians and Romans to the Islamic state and the Alaouite era.

Nasour emphasized in a press statement that “Nostalgia” helps introduce visitors, both from Morocco and abroad, to a part of the kingdom’s historical memory, while providing Moroccan youth an opportunity to engage with their heritage through an innovative artistic format.

More than 350 artists and technicians are involved in the production of this performance, making it an open workshop for technical and artistic employment, providing temporary job opportunities for dozens of professionals in various fields related to the cultural industry.

The event goes beyond just artistic expression; it is part of a comprehensive vision to invigorate cultural tourism, aligned with a global trend that prioritizes cultural industries as a lever for development. Nasour stressed that this type of performance has become a promising sector that merges creativity with tourism and economic promotion.

Chellah, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2012, is one of the most prominent landmarks in the historical capital, boasting remains that date back to centuries before Christ.

The organizers hope this initiative will contribute to enhancing public awareness of the value of Chellah, utilizing it as a cultural and artistic space that reflects the depth of Moroccan memory and the diversity of its cultural influences.
