Pedro Sánchez Visits Mauritania to Strengthen Cooperation and Combat Irregular Migration
Nouakchott – Pedro Sánchez, the Prime Minister of Spain, arrived in Nouakchott on Wednesday, where he was welcomed by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. This marks the beginning of a one-day official visit.
Sánchez is holding discussions with the Mauritanian president focused on issues of irregular migration and security, as part of efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation. This visit comes more than a year after the signing of a crucial agreement aimed at combating irregular migration, intended to reduce the influx of migrants towards Spanish shores via Mauritania.
The agenda for talks also includes topics related to investment, fisheries, and economic partnership, particularly as Sánchez is accompanied by a large delegation of Spanish business figures, as well as a ministerial delegation comprising six ministers, including those responsible for interior and foreign affairs.
