OCP Launches “Green Water” Company to Achieve Water Sovereignty by 2027
The OCP Group has initiated a new strategic step towards sustainability by establishing “OCP Green Water,” a company specialized in the management and valorization of unconventional water resources. This move aims to secure complete water sovereignty by 2027.
Mustapha Terrab, the CEO of the group, officially announced this new company, which represents a turning point in OCP’s water policy. The goal is to meet its industrial water needs through the use of treated wastewater and desalinated water, completely eliminating dependence on fresh water in its industrial operations.
The new company aims to unify the group’s efforts in developing sustainable water solutions across its various industrial locations, particularly in Jorf Lasfar, Safi, Benguerir, and Khouribga. It will also manage and maintain water infrastructure, while developing new partnerships with public and private stakeholders.
Over the past decade, OCP has invested more than 10 billion dirhams in projects for wastewater reuse and seawater desalination. The launch of “OCP Green Water” seeks to accelerate this dynamic, especially in light of increasing water scarcity challenges nationally.
The group intends to mobilize more than one billion cubic meters of unconventional water by 2027 to cover all its industrial needs and reduce its environmental footprint within the framework of its broader program to cut carbon emissions and achieve climate neutrality.
This initiative strengthens OCP’s position as a global player committed to responsible manufacturing, capable of adapting to environmental challenges and providing an exemplary model in innovation and sustainability.
