Today, Tuesday, the twelfth session of the Global High-Speed Rail Conference kicked off in Beijing, China, under the theme “High-Speed Rail: Innovation and Development for a Better Life,” with delegations from over 80 countries, including Morocco.
This international event, organized by the International Union of Railways, will continue until Friday, featuring more than 3,000 experts and professionals in the rail transport sector who will discuss the latest technological innovations and challenges associated with developing high-speed trains.
Morocco is represented by an official delegation led by Mohamed Rabie Khlie, Director General of the National Office of Railways, alongside Abdellatif Zaghnoun, Director General of the National Agency for Strategic Management of State Contributions. It’s worth noting that Morocco hosted the previous edition of this conference in Marrakech in March 2023.
Khlie is also participating in the 106th General Assembly meeting of the International Union of Railways, where Morocco holds the position of Vice President, in addition to chairing the African region within the same organization.
This conference, held periodically since 1992, serves as a global platform for exchanging experiences and insights among industry professionals and offers an opportunity to showcase the advancements in high-speed rail networks, particularly regarding technology, planning, safety, and operational management.
This year’s conference in Beijing highlights the Chinese experience in this field, as China has developed the largest high-speed rail network in the world, extending over 46,000 kilometers. The program includes general sessions, roundtables, and technical workshops addressing current and future issues within the global rail sector.
