Morocco–France: Dakhla and Nice Launch a Dynamic Partnership

A delegation from the French city of Nice, led by Olivier Bettati, special advisor to the city’s mayor, has arrived in Dakhla to enhance cooperation between the two municipalities. The visit provided an opportunity to explore areas of mutual interest, particularly related to ongoing development projects in the Dakhla–Oued Eddahab region.

The delegation reviewed significant infrastructure projects, most notably the Atlantic Dakhla Port, as well as the economic dynamism the region is experiencing under the royal vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Bettati expressed his admiration for the pace of progress, praising the strategic approach of the Kingdom and highlighting the importance of collaboration with French local authorities.

Currently, preparations are underway for a twinning agreement between Nice and Dakhla, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and supporting economic, cultural, and sporting exchanges. The president of Dakhla’s local council, Raghib Harma Allah, confirmed that the signing of this protocol is imminent, emphasizing the promising opportunities it holds for both parties.

The French delegation also visited several local infrastructures, including the construction site of the Atlantic Dakhla Port and a seawater desalination plant, which play a crucial role in improving access to essential services. The delegation held various meetings with local officials, including the region’s governor, the deputy president of the regional council, and the director of the regional investment center, to identify areas of valuable cooperation.

This initiative is part of the broader context of expanding diplomatic and economic relations between Morocco and France, where local authorities are increasingly taking on a pivotal role in building strategic partnerships.
