Tourism accommodation establishments in Morocco recorded over 11.88 million overnight stays by the end of May 2025, marking a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to data released by the Tourism Observatory.
The rise in overnight stays is attributed to a 5% growth in domestic tourism and a 17% increase in international tourism, reflecting the sector’s ongoing recovery and expansion.
Various tourist destinations across the kingdom experienced positive outcomes, with Tangier leading at a 24% increase, followed by Casablanca at 20%, Fez at 19%, Essaouira at 16%, and Al Haouz at 14%. Agadir saw a 10% rise, while Marrakech recorded a 7% increase compared to May of last year.
Revenues from international tourism in hard currency rose to over 45.12 billion dirhams in the first five months of 2025, an 8.5% increase compared to the previous year, further enhancing the sector’s contribution to the national economy.
The number of tourists arriving through various border crossings increased by 22%, reaching 7,219,190 visitors by the end of May. This reflects the ongoing dynamic nature of Morocco’s tourism sector, which continues to reap rewards thanks to efforts in promotion and quality enhancement of the tourism offering.
