Mohamed Chouki: Health Sovereignty as a Pillar of National Security, Health Reforms Reflect Citizens’ Reality
During the monthly session of political accountability, Mohamed Chouki, the head of the National Rally of Independents in the House of Representatives, affirmed that national sovereignty and territorial unity remain red lines. He called for political discipline and respect for state symbols and principles, emphasizing the need to firmly confront the attacks targeting the city of Smara.
Chouki stressed that the government considers health sovereignty as an integral part of national sovereignty, adopting a strategic mindset that transcends slogans and electoral calculations. He stated that health security is one of the cornerstones of the Kingdom’s strategic security.
Regarding government achievements, he noted the success of expanding health coverage, citing that 11 million citizens now benefit from the “Amo-Tadamun” system, compared to a previous maximum of 10 million under the “RAMED” program, all while respecting the royal agenda in implementing health policies.
Chouki recorded an increase in the number of widows benefiting from direct support, which rose from 75,000 to over 420,000, reflecting the government’s commitment to serving vulnerable groups.
In the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector, the parliamentarian highlighted the government’s support for investment in biopharmaceutical production, technology transfer, and encouraging research and development, which enhances Morocco’s pharmaceutical sovereignty.
Concerning the health system reform, he confirmed that the ongoing projects are not superficial but rather based on a comprehensive vision, pointing out that the average citizen now receives dignified therapeutic services in public and private health institutions without any discrimination.
He also urged for a faster establishment of “regional health groups,” such as the Tangier group, to ensure equitable access and fairness among the various regions of the Kingdom.
Chouki concluded his remarks by affirming that the government operates with a clear and consistent vision, stating that the health sector constitutes the cornerstone of a social contract aimed at building a Morocco of dignity and development, as desired by King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan people.
