Maghreb Forum: King Mohammed VI’s Initiative as a Historic Opportunity for Algeria to Seize the Signal
The Maghreb Dialogue Forum has praised the contents of the Throne Speech delivered by King Mohammed VI on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, particularly his renewed call to open a new chapter in relations between Morocco and Algeria, based on responsible dialogue and mutual understanding.
In a statement received by Express TV, the forum highlighted that the royal address expressed a spirit of openness and wisdom, urging for a move beyond temporary disagreements and favoring the logic of brotherhood and shared destiny among the peoples of the Maghreb region.
The forum lauded the emphasis placed in the speech on the importance of Maghreb Union as a regional framework to address developmental and security challenges, reaffirming the commitment to a consensual resolution to the Western Sahara issue that respects the dignity of all parties involved, based on a “no victor, no vanquished” principle.
In this context, the forum called upon Algerian authorities, led by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to respond positively to the royal initiative, considering it a historic opportunity to mend divisions and build a shared future based on trust and mutual respect.
Furthermore, the forum urged various Maghreb stakeholders, including politicians, intellectuals, and civil organizations, to engage in the reconciliation dynamic and contribute to creating a regional atmosphere conducive to stability and shared development.
The forum reiterated its commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at revitalizing the Maghreb Union project, viewing it as a strategic option for achieving economic and social integration in North Africa.
The statement underscored that the time for the Maghreb has come, and that rupture and isolation cannot provide a way forward for the region’s future, calling for a historical reconciliation based on sincere dialogue and common interests among the peoples.
