Iran Suspends Cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency Following Attacks on Its Nuclear Facilities

A report stated that Iranian President Masoud Bezhakian issued an order on Wednesday to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, following the United States’ targeting of its key nuclear facilities.

Online government media reported that President Bezhakian made the decision.

This move comes after the Iranian Parliament approved the suspension of cooperation with the agency. The decision also received approval from the Guardian Council.

It was not immediately clear what this meant for the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The agency, based in Vienna, has long monitored Iran’s nuclear program. It did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

After the law was passed, the Supreme National Security Council of Iran will oversee its implementation. Although the council has not issued any public statements, Bezhakian is the head of the council, indicating that his order suggests the law will be enforced.
