Ibn Tofail Responds to Integrity Rankings: International Results Confirm Our National Leadership
Ibn Tofail University stated to Expresstv that the reports regarding its negative position in the scientific integrity index do not reflect the reality of the institution and do not align with the international recognitions it receives, which are documented in accredited academic rankings.
The university clarified that these rankings rely on strict criteria, including the QS World University Rankings 2026, released on June 19, 2025, which selected only two universities from Morocco out of 8,467 evaluated from 106 countries. Ibn Tofail topped the national ranking due to its excellence in scientific research, academic performance, and international openness.
Additionally, the university ranked first nationally in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025, which included 2,526 universities from 130 countries and focuses on institutions’ contributions to achieving sustainable development goals. Ibn Tofail demonstrated strong performance in areas such as educational quality, clean energy, water and public health, and economic growth.
The institution emphasized that these results are the fruit of a continuous collective effort in developing academic programs, supporting responsible scientific research, expanding partnerships with international universities, and enhancing governance mechanisms within the university.
Regarding the withdrawal of some scientific articles, the university explained to Expresstv that this phenomenon affects major universities worldwide and is related to issues concerning the pressure of scientific publishing and the ease of breaches in some open international journals. It added that the university addresses these cases seriously and is working to revise its publishing methodology and ensure its quality.
Ibn Tofail considered that focusing on isolated negative indicators while ignoring the broad international recognition the institution enjoys is unjust and does not serve the development of Moroccan universities. It clearly questioned: how is it possible for an institution accused of lack of integrity to top reputable global rankings in such a way?
The university called for an objective evaluation balancing criticism and factual data, encouraging serious research instead of unfair generalizations.
