His Majesty King Mohammed VI Chairs a Reception in Mdiq on the Occasion of Throne Day

King Mohammed VI chaired an official reception in M’diq today, marking the 26th anniversary of his accession to the throne. The ceremony took place at the M’diq-Fnideq administrative square and was attended by Crown Prince Moulay Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid.

The event opened with the national anthem and a 21-gun salute, followed by various officials and dignitaries, both Moroccan and foreign, who came to greet the king and congratulate him on this occasion.

Among those present were Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, the presidents of both chambers of Parliament, Rachid Talbi Alami and Mohamed Wellachid, as well as judicial officials, including Mohamed Abdennabi and Hicham Blawi, and heads of constitutional institutions such as Mohamed Amin Benabdallah, Zainab Al-Dawari, Abdelkader Amara, Mohamed Yassaf, Rahma Bouqria, and Amina Bouyahya.

Representatives and officials from governance bodies were also present, including Hassan Tariq, Latifa Akharbash, Ahmed Raho, Mohamed Benalilou, Idriss Yazmi, and Khalihn Wellachid, in addition to the Wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Younes Al-Tazi, and the president of the regional council, Omar Moro.

The reception included high-ranking military and security leaders, such as the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces, Mohamed Bried, and the Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, Mohamed Harmou, as well as officials from the air and naval forces, and the auxiliary forces, alongside the directors of national security and domestic intelligence, Abdelatif Hammouchi and Mohamed Yassine Mansouri.

Several ambassadors from the diplomatic corps accredited in Morocco also came forward to greet the king, representing African, Arab, European, American, and Asian nations, as well as representatives of the three Abrahamic religions.

The event also featured a reception for FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, and members of the national women’s football team, who posed for a commemorative group photo with the king, Crown Prince, and Prince Moulay Rachid, celebrating their achievements in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

This reception exemplifies the bond between the throne and the people and reinforces a longstanding national tradition through which Moroccans express their loyalty and pride in the Alaouite dynasty.
