France Tightens Entry Procedures for Algerian Officials
The French news agency reported that the government spokesperson, Sophie Primas, mentioned during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday that the French Minister of the Interior is preparing to announce new measures concerning the entry of Algerian officials into French territory.
This action by the French Minister of the Interior is in response to Algeria’s failure to comply with a decision made by the French authorities regarding the return of 53 Algerians to France after they were expelled to their country.
French magazine “Paris Match” revealed in an article that the French Minister of the Interior will initiate what the magazine described as strict measures targeting high-ranking members of the Algerian elite, as part of a gradual response policy to Algeria’s decision.
Moreover, the newspaper “Le Figaro” noted that France views this crisis as a sensitive phase in relations between the two countries amid ongoing diplomatic and political tensions, which the newspaper claimed are systematically orchestrated by Algeria.
