Embraer Competes Strongly to Win a Contract in Royal Air Maroc’s Fleet Modernization Plan
The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer is vying for a contract to supply new aircraft as part of Royal Air Maroc’s plan to expand and renew its fleet.
According to a source familiar with the matter, the Moroccan carrier is considering acquiring planes in three different size categories, with a particular focus on the smaller size. This opens the door for Embraer to propose its second-generation “E2” series aircraft as a competitive option.
Earlier, Brazilian newspaper Folha de São Paulo reported that Royal Air Maroc is in talks with several manufacturers, including Embraer, regarding a potential deal that could involve up to 200 aircraft. Embraer has not issued any official comment on the matter, and Royal Air Maroc has yet to respond to these reports.
The financial markets reacted to these developments, as Embraer’s stock rose by 2% before retreating to close down by 3.6%. This came in light of U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of a 50% tariff on Brazilian exports, adding further pressure on the markets, considering that the United States is the largest market for Embraer’s aircraft.
In related news, Reuters reported in June that Royal Air Maroc is nearing deals with both Boeing and Airbus as part of its renewal plan, especially since its current fleet primarily consists of Boeing aircraft. The airline is planning to order dozens of planes from Boeing, in addition to a smaller deal for 20 Airbus A220 aircraft.
These moves reflect Royal Air Maroc’s efforts to modernize its fleet in preparation for expanding its network and strengthening its regional and international position amid increasing competitive challenges in the aviation sector.
