Casablanca Opens Its Arms to Artists Worldwide: The Second Edition of the Sculptural and Ceramics Symposium
From December 18 to 27, 2025, Casablanca will transform into an exemplary space for visual arts by hosting the second edition of the Sculptural and Ceramics Symposium. Organized by the Atelier Art Association in partnership with the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Casablanca (ESBAC) and the city council, this event is supported by the Ministry of Culture. This occasion serves as a call to visual artists from Morocco and beyond to participate in an artistic dialogue that celebrates diversity and contemporary styles.
In Honor of Memory and Vision
This edition is dedicated to honoring one of the prominent pioneers in the history of contemporary Moroccan sculpture, the creative artist Abdelkarim Wazzani, whose works have left a lasting mark on the artistic landscape and established new visual references. The symposium is also named after the artist Abdelhak Seglamsi, in recognition of his rich experience that blends aesthetic heritage with a spirit of experimentation, creating a dynamic interaction between tradition and modernity.
Through this symbolic gathering of two reference names, the symposium emphasizes its commitment to the virtues of gratitude and acknowledgment, creating an artistic moment where memory intersects with dreams.
A Forum for Expression and Dialogue
The symposium will kick off with a collective inaugural exhibition on December 18, representing the aesthetic core of the event. Artists from diverse backgrounds will engage in an open creative dialogue. The exhibition will celebrate the art of sculpture and ceramics through new approaches that range between reality and imagination, between craftsmanship and innovation.
Symbolic spaces within the city have been selected to host the symposium’s activities, including the Cultural Space of Sacred Heart, the garden of the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, and the Frédéric Bellkahia exhibition hall, creating dynamic interactions between artists, audiences, professionals, and cultural stakeholders.
An Invitation for International Participation
The call for participation is open to Moroccan and international visual artists wishing to present two recent works in the fields of sculpture or artistic ceramics, by submitting application files before October 15, 2025. These files must include a recent artistic biography accompanied by a personal photo, a detailed technical card, and high-quality images of the proposed works.
It is required that the works be exhibition-ready upon arrival and be included in the official catalog of the symposium and its promotional materials.
An Intellectual Horizon and Cultural Exchange
The symposium goes beyond merely presenting art; it also provides a space for dialogue and reflection on contemporary artistic practices. During the event, intellectual seminars, professional meetings, educational workshops, and guided tours will be organized, aimed at expanding the discussion and creating new bridges between artists, critics, and enthusiasts.
Through this edition, the organizers affirm their commitment to establishing Casablanca as a beacon for visual arts, highlighting artistic aesthetics that remain marginalized within the framework of contemporary global art. The symposium also serves as a challenge to the role of visual creativity as a tool for civilizational dialogue and cross-cultural exchange.
