The city of Casablanca is preparing to welcome a unique artistic event for fans of rap and hip-hop, as the inaugural edition of the “Egregore” festival will take place on July 26 and 27.

This festival represents a significant addition to the Moroccan cultural scene, marking the 40th anniversary of rap music’s emergence in Morocco and its widespread popularity among youth.

The program will not be limited to rap performances alone; it will also include a variety of segments featuring breakdancing, live graffiti art sessions, and musical acts from prominent Moroccan DJs, creating an atmosphere filled with vibrant rhythms and urban creativity.

Several well-known rap stars will participate in the festival, including “L’Morfin,” “Shobi,” “Khetak,” “Totoh,” “Shino,” “L’Motcho,” “Cartman,” “Caprice,” “Doulilibran,” and “Al-Dib,” alongside emerging names representing a new wave in this art form that has become a voice for youth issues and aspirations.

The organizers aim to establish “Egregore” as an annual fixture in the artistic calendar, enhancing Casablanca’s status as a key destination for street culture and urban arts at both the Arab and international levels.

The festival also aspires to serve as a platform for exchanging experiences and fostering connections between rap pioneers and the new generation of artists seeking to write a new chapter in the history of this genre in Morocco.
